Know your people! Developing your customer avatars should be one of the first steps you take when crafting your brand strategy and will lend itself to your marketing strategy down the track.
It pays to dig deep when developing your customer avatars. We want to delve into not just the demographics of your market, but their psychographics too. Purchasing decisions are emotional first and logic second.
Questions to think about when developing your customer avatar…
👉 What do they need? What would make their lives better?
👉 What are their biggest challenges? What are their biggest fears? What problems are they facing?
👉 What are the defining characteristics of their personality?
👉 What are they willing to invest in?
👉 How do you want them to feel when working with / buying from you?
It’s also helpful to reach out to people that are in your potential target market and ask them these questions directly. You may be surprised at the feedback you receive and this will further develop a deeper understanding of who you’re targeting.
